ACHIEVEMENTS

Profitus’ pooled capital has reached €300 million.

In recent years, crowdfunding platforms in Lithuania have recorded record growth figures. The entire crowdfunding market grew 21% in 2024, while the market leader, the crowdfunding platform “Profitus,” grew an impressive 49%. “Profitus” has just reached 300 million euros – representing one-third of the entire Lithuanian crowdfunding market.

“The original idea was for people to be able to invest small amounts in real estate. This has truly been achieved,” says Viktorija Čijunskytė, director of “Profitus.”

She recalls the platform’s beginnings seven years ago, when in the first year just 1 million euros was raised to finance projects. Today, the platform raises 10–13 million euros each month. Such growth has also forced the platform itself to evolve, introducing increasingly strict credit and risk assessment processes that now resemble banking practices in order to protect investors’ money – with some requirements even stricter because small investors are involved.

“Profitus” also notes changes in the investor profile. In the beginning, small investors dominated, but over time, more large players and institutional investors joined. Currently, 60% of the portfolio consists of small investors, and 40% comes from larger investors. The average investor is a 42-year-old man from Vilnius, although the platform actively seeks to attract other groups as well.

“Women now make up over 40% of our investors, which exceeds the Lithuanian average,” emphasizes Miglė Grybinienė, marketing director at “Profitus.”

Among the investors are minors and even infants whose accounts were opened by their parents, while the oldest investor is 96 years old. This demonstrates the broad accessibility and convenience of crowdfunding as a financial tool, says M. Grybinienė.

“Profitus” dedicates significant efforts to increasing financial literacy. Currently, the focus is on the upcoming pension reform and the option to terminate second-pillar pension contributions, encouraging people to make informed decisions.

Real estate developers are also discovering crowdfunding as an effective tool, says Viktorija Čijunskytė.

“Previously, when we started, crowdfunding was a last chance when no other funding was available. Now I can confidently say that it is a first chance,” notes the platform’s founder, highlighting the shift in perspective.
