Fintech Leader PROFITUS Joins the SKM Partner Family

PROFITUS has joined the ever-growing family of partners of the Sostinė Basketball School (SKM).

PROFITUS is a well-known Lithuanian crowdfunding platform specializing in real estate-backed investments and project financing.

Founded in 2017, PROFITUS actively contributes to improving financial literacy by organizing seminars for companies, delivering presentations at schools and universities, participating in finance industry events, and hosting dedicated educational initiatives.

Starting from the 2026–2027 season, PROFITUS will become the General Partner of the SKM-I team of players born in 2014. Coached by Ignas Pagalys, the SKM-I PROFITUS team will compete in the Lithuanian U13 Championship of the Lithuanian School Basketball League (MKL) in the upcoming season.

Last season, the team finished among the top four teams in Lithuania, winning 21 of its 24 games.

Speaking about the school's new partner, SKM Director M. Noreika said:

"I believe that every learning opportunity adds value for children and young people. PROFITUS will meaningfully strengthen the educational side of our organization by providing valuable knowledge about financial literacy and opportunities. This will benefit everyone – children, parents, and the entire SKM community."

Ignas Pagalys, Head Coach of the SKM-I PROFITUS team, also welcomed the partnership:

"We are delighted that such a well-known partner, whose value has already been proven through real achievements, is joining our team. I have a personal interest in investing and financial literacy, so this new partnership is particularly exciting. I have no doubt that throughout the season we will create meaningful and valuable initiatives together with our young players, their parents, and, of course, the PROFITUS team."

Ahead of SKM's milestone 20th season, SKM.lt spoke with Miglė Grybinienė, Chief Marketing Officer at PROFITUS and host of the Conversations About Money podcast.

Why did you decide to become an SKM partner?

We chose to partner with SKM because we see a very strong alignment of values. SKM not only develops basketball players but also fosters perseverance, discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and the ability to pursue goals with determination. These are exactly the qualities that are equally important when making financial decisions. At PROFITUS, we strive to contribute to long-term positive change in society, so it is meaningful for us to support an organization that invests in children and their future.

How important is it for your organization to be genuinely socially responsible and support meaningful youth sports initiatives?

For us, social responsibility is not a one-time initiative or simply having our logo on a jersey. We want to support projects that create real, long-lasting value. Youth sports help build self-confidence, resilience, respect for rules, and the ability to work as a team. These are life skills that stay with children far longer than a single sports season. That is why we see this partnership with SKM as an investment in a growing, responsible, active, and financially literate young generation.

How do you see financial literacy evolving in our society, particularly among schoolchildren, young people, and parents?

Financial literacy in Lithuania is gradually improving. People are becoming more open about discussing money and are increasingly interested not only in saving but also in investing and financial security. However, theoretical knowledge does not always translate into everyday habits. Children primarily learn about money by observing their parents, which is why it is so important to start financial education early and discuss money openly, simply, and without fear or taboo. We need to help the younger generation understand not only how to earn money but also how to plan it, save it, spend it responsibly, and grow it over time.

Can you share what projects and surprises the SKM community can expect in the upcoming basketball season?

The most important part of this partnership is the introduction of the SKM-I PROFITUS youth basketball team starting this season. We want to be more than just a sponsor – we aim to become an active part of the community. We plan to engage with the team throughout the season, create financial literacy initiatives for children and their parents, and talk about goal setting, responsibility, saving, investing, and making smart financial decisions. We believe that sport and financial education complement each other naturally, as both require consistency, patience, and a long-term perspective.
