INVESTMENT ESPRESSO: The Strait of Hormuz – the Biggest Economic Shock of 2026 and Its Impact on Lithuania

The Strait of Hormuz crisis, which has been unsettling the world for seven months, has already become the main factor shaking the global economy in 2026, yet oil still does not cost $200. Why? In this episode, economist Jokūbas Markevičius discusses why Europe has proven more vulnerable than expected, why Lithuania's inflation is the highest in Europe (over 5%), and what this means for the housing market: prices have risen by 14% in six months, while rental yields have fallen to ~4%. We also answer the question that concerns most people – will housing prices fall, or will they simply stabilize?

“Investment Espresso” is a program by the Financial Freedom Forum and 15min, where we talk with finance and investment experts about topics relevant to everyone managing their money. The program is presented in preparation for the fifth Financial Freedom Forum, which will take place on November 19, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Conference Centre in Vilnius.
