Frequently asked questions

1. What is crowdfunding?

It is a method of fundraising mediated by an online platform, where people with an idea can raise money for their project from individuals investors. The basic idea of crowdfunding is that money is invested from one person to another. Crowdfunding can take many forms:
Reward-based - investing for a non-monetary reward (goods or services);

Equity-based - investing in exchange for an ownership stake (shares, real estate);
Lending-based - investing in a loan in order to recover the investment with the interest.

3. Why might identity verification fail?

The most common reasons why identity verification fails are related to:

  1. Photo quality – the photo may be too dark, blurry, or the face/document is not clearly visible.
  2. Mismatched data – the contact or personal details provided during registration do not match those in the official document. For example, the first or last name is entered without Lithuanian characters.

To ensure a smooth identity verification process, we recommend:

  • Use a mobile phone – as the device’s camera usually provides better photo quality.
  • Ensure proper photo quality – the image should be sharp, well-lit, without shadows or blurriness.
  • Make sure the document is clearly visible – all parts of it must be captured, not distorted, and without reflections.
  • Remove any foreign objects or people from the background – only you and your document should be visible in the photo.
  • Enter your personal details accurately during registration – write your first and last name with all Lithuanian characters, exactly as shown in your document.

By following these recommendations, you will significantly increase the likelihood of successful identity verification.

14. Why does a PROFITUS account require 2FA?

2FA (two-factor authentication) adds an extra layer of protection to your account and funds. Even if your password were leaked, guessed, or obtained through a phishing attack, it would not be possible to log in without additional verification.

Why is this especially important on the PROFITUS platform?

  • Financial protection. Sensitive data is stored in the account and financial transactions are performed – a password alone is not sufficient to protect this data.

  • Additional security step. Logging in or performing important actions requires an extra code (from an authentication app or via SMS).

  • Protection against unauthorized actions. 2FA helps prevent account data changes or unauthorized investment and withdrawal transactions.

  • Market standard. Strong authentication is a security standard and best practice in the financial sector.

You can find instructions on how to link your account with an authentication app here.
