Major Investors Are Directing Increasing Amounts of Capital to PROFITUS: Returns Are Not the Only Priority

Major investors are directing increasing amounts of capital into crowdfunding – a trend reflected in PROFITUS data. Over the past year alone, the capital of individual VIP investors on the platform has more than tripled, while the capital invested by companies has increased almost sevenfold.

In 2025, the capital of individual VIP investors on PROFITUS amounted to EUR 7.1 million, compared to EUR 25.9 million in 2026. An even more significant increase can be seen among companies: over the same period, their capital grew from EUR 2.3 million to EUR 15.6 million.

According to Aurimas Satkūnas, Head of Investor Relations at PROFITUS, as investment amounts increase, investors' requirements are also changing. What matters is not only the return on a specific project, but also the ability to consistently put capital to work and manage investments across the entire portfolio.

“When managing larger amounts of capital, finding one attractive project is not enough – it is important to have sufficient investment opportunities to diversify funds and avoid excessive concentration. At the same time, project selection, LTV, collateral and investment duration are also assessed. The ease of managing a larger number of investments and planning future cash flows also matters. Therefore, a predetermined fixed return that depends on the amount invested becomes one of the criteria when assessing how a particular investment will complement the overall portfolio,” says A. Satkūnas.

A. Satkūnas points out that the capital of individual VIP investors had also been growing steadily in previous years – in 2023, the capital they held on the platform amounted to EUR 0.5 million.

Different Investors on One Platform

Interestingly, the growth of large-scale capital recorded by PROFITUS also stands out in the broader context of the European crowdfunding market. According to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), 88% of investors in this market are still classified as retail investors, around 11% as sophisticated investors, while professional investors account for only about 1%.

According to Miglė Grybinienė, Head of Marketing at PROFITUS, this market structure is partly due to the fact that many platforms focus their activities on a single group of investors. Some bring together a broad base of retail investors, while others work with professional investors or those managing particularly large amounts of capital. PROFITUS has chosen a different direction – combining a broad investor base with large-scale capital on a single platform.

“A broad investor base provides the platform with scale and enables it to quickly raise the financing required for projects, while the growing share of large-scale capital brings greater stability and a longer-term perspective. Both aspects are important to larger investors. A broad investor base demonstrates the platform's ability to raise capital, while the growing share of large investments shows that the same model is also relevant when managing significantly larger amounts,” says M. Grybinienė.
