How to Invest in Real Estate Without Substantial Savings: What Participants Discussed at the Housing and Investment Fair

On October 17, the Housing and Investment Fair, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva in Vilnius, focused not only on housing prices, supply and prospects. Investment opportunities also received considerable attention: how to invest in real estate without substantial savings and what is important to consider before making a decision. These topics were discussed at the event by Miglė Juškevičiūtė, Head of Marketing at the crowdfunding platform PROFITUS.

The Housing Fair, organized by the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association (LNTPA), has been bringing together people looking for homes and representatives of the real estate market for several years. This year, visitors had the opportunity to learn about new housing projects, consult specialists and hear expert assessments of market prospects.

“People considering buying a home today face many questions – from prices and affordability to how supply will change and what to expect in the coming years. Some are wondering whether now is the right time to buy, while others are looking for a home that not only meets their current needs but will also be a good choice in the longer term. At the fair, we explored these topics from different perspectives. We devoted just as much attention to investing in real estate, because here it is important to understand not only the potential returns but also the risks,” says LNTPA President Mindaugas Statulevičius.

Investing in Real Estate Without Buying a Home – Mission Possible

In her presentation “Overview of Crowdfunding in Lithuania”, PROFITUS Head of Marketing Miglė Juškevičiūtė spoke about the development of crowdfunding in Lithuania and how investors’ choices are changing.

“Investing in real estate does not require tens of thousands of euros or buying a home yourself – crowdfunding makes it possible to invest in real estate projects with smaller amounts. However, the mere opportunity to start with a small amount does not reveal the full picture of the market. According to our data, over the past year, the capital of individual VIP investors alone on the PROFITUS platform has grown more than threefold, while that of investing companies has increased almost sevenfold. Crowdfunding is increasingly being chosen not only by beginners but also by investors managing larger amounts of capital,” says M. Juškevičiūtė.

From the First Steps to the Risks

M. Juškevičiūtė discussed the practical side of investing – from the first steps to choosing real estate projects and potential risks – in the discussion “How to Start Investing Without Large Sums? Crowdfunding – the Answer for Lithuanians” together with Swedbank representative Eglė Istratovė.

Like any investment, crowdfunding involves risks: neither the invested capital nor the return is guaranteed. Therefore, before making a decision, it is important to assess the project’s collateral, the investment term and your own financial capabilities.
